The Mysterious Moon Calendar of Killarumiyoq

More Info

Located about an hour or so from Cusco Peru in one of the most beautiful settings imaginable surrounded by mountains and rivers, is a little known site that is shrouded in mystery.

Called Killarumiyoq, this site features Inca ruins, mortarless megalithic walls and a one of a kind treasure – what appears to be a precision cut crescent moon.

Killa translates as “moon” and rumiyoq translates as “stones of.” So in English Killarumiyoq translates as “stones of the moon,” and many researchers theorize that this was some sort of ancient lunar calendar or solar clock.

Made from very hard andesite stone, some also claim that when the sunlight hits it at a specific time, you can even see the eye of the Puma inside.

Did the Inca create this or did they later discover it & built a ceremonial site around it?

Join me this August for our 2024 Peru/ Bolivia tour, this will be the adventure of a lifetime! I hope to see you there! Click here for more info
